Prism Counseling & Community Services (PCCS) was founded on a simple belief: no one should have to face life's challenges alone.

After recognizing significant gaps in accessible, affirming community support across Southeast Alabama, PCCS was created to provide opportunities for connection, education, advocacy, and peer support for individuals who too often felt overlooked or underserved. ​

In 2021, PCCS received its 501(c)(3) nonprofit determination from the Internal Revenue Service, establishing the organization as a charitable nonprofit committed to serving the community through education, outreach, and support. 

What began with a vision to create welcoming spaces has continued to grow into a community-centered organization offering peer support, youth programming, veteran initiatives, educational opportunities, wellness activities, resource navigation, and collaborative partnerships throughout the region.

While PCCS was founded to address unmet needs within the LGBTQ+ community, the organization has grown to serve a broader range of underserved individuals and families while remaining committed to providing affirming, respectful, and inclusive spaces for those who need them. 

As a volunteer-driven nonprofit, PCCS believes that stronger communities are built through compassion, collaboration, and meaningful human connection. Every program, every partnership, every volunteer, and every act of generosity helps create opportunities for people to grow stronger together.

Today, PCCS continues to expand its impact by developing innovative programs, strengthening community partnerships, and creating spaces where individuals and families can find connection, support, and hope.

2021

• Received IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit determination

2022-2020

• Expanded community outreach and partnerships.

• Began developing peer support and educational programming.

• Strengthened relationships with local organizations and community leaders.

2025

• Expanded community programming to youth initiatives, veteran programming, creative programming, wellness activities, and resource navigation.

• Increased volunteer engagement and community partnerships.

2026

• Continued organizational growth through new grants, expanded programs, and increased community collaboration.

• Strengthened PCCS's role as a trusted nonprofit serving underserved communities throughout Southeast Alabama.
